The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) made good on its determination to see an end to anti-social activities carried out on the flyover at Umiam Lake by chasing away several members of the public who had stopped at the site.
The scarcely used flyover is a popular spot for the public to take photographs as it overlooks a section of the lake. Others use the road to hang out with friends (often with alcohol and creating a mess with litter) and bikers sometimes use the stretch to pull of stunts.
It was on July 10 that HITO, along with the Dorbar Shnong of Umiam Pyllun and Umiam police station, issued a notice to the general public not to use the flyover for such activities.
