PHE minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar inaugurated and laid foundation stones of 11 water supply schemes worth Rs 112.1 crore for South West Khasi Hills district.
The foundation plaques for the water scheme were unveiled at the premises of the office of the Executive Engineer PHE, Mawkyrwat division today.
Tongkhar said out of the 11 water scheme, nine will be constructed under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and the Minimum Need Programme (MNP) and another under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), which will benefit 5177 households in 46 villages.
Those that will be covered under the JJM scheme are the Greater Water Combine Water Supply Scheme, Mawranglang, Laitnong, Pyndenkseh, Mawthong, Umsaitshriew, Pawphlang, Domjajiew, Shaid Shaid Umoid, Sakwang and Rangdikhiew combine water supply schemes.
Tongkhar lauded the PHE department and urged contractors to speed up implementation of the projects by December for people to have access to potable water.
