The All Meghalaya Upper Primary and Secondary Deficit Pattern School Teachers’ Association (AMUPSDPSTA) today urged the government to act on the grievances of the 13 deficit pattern upper primary and secondary schools in the state.
The association wants their demands to be discussed in the upcoming session of the Assembly.
Speaking to reporters today, the president of the association, Sengbat G Marak, said that the topmost priority demand of all the deficit pattern teachers is for the upgrade of all the 13 deficit pattern schools (nine secondary and four upper primary) to the full-fledged deficit system. These schools cover 127 employees.
This would give the teachers hill allowance and others for house rent, medical, increment for higher educational qualification and gratuity.
“Should we neglect the service of those senior school teachers who, after their 30 years of service, have no other allowances and no pension?” an executive member of the association, Wympher Laloo, asked.
