The A’chik Organisation of Social Welfare (AOSW) has questioned the procedure in the appointment of an assistant teacher at Rongrong Union Deficit UP School.
In a letter to the Director of School Education and Literacy today, AOSW secretary Premier Sangma said that the school put out an advertisement earlier this year for an assistant teacher and received 13 applications.
Nine of the applicants were subsequently called for an interview and one – Dolly N Marak – was given the job.
Sangma claimed in the letter that Marak had not passed the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) and had only received her results from the D.IED after the interview was conducted.
Sangma thus questioned on what basis Marak was appointed instead of other deserving candidates by the Sub-Divisional School Officer of East Garo Hills.
