Shillong, Sep 26: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Garo Hills, organised a three-day skill development training programme on “Scientific Poultry Farming” from September 22 to 24 at Jenggitchakgre village under Gambegre block.
The programme aimed to equip tribal farmers with scientific knowledge in poultry production to enhance income.
A total of 20 farmers participated in the training.
Sessions covered suitable poultry breeds for the Garo Hills region, scientific housing, feeding management, disease control and poultry healthcare.
Practical demonstrations were conducted on chick vaccination, low-cost feed formulation and Azolla production. Azolla cultures maintained at the KVK farm were provided to participants for independent cultivation. Poultry feed, vitamins and mineral mixture were also distributed.
Participant feedback was collected on the final day and certificates were distributed.
