The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tura, which was begun in 1970, has received upgrades to its facilities that were inaugurated today.
The ‘farm science centre’ was visited on the occasion by SK Chaudhari, deputy director general at the Indian Council for Agriculture Research, New Delhi, Rajeshree Sunil, deputy secretary, and VK Mishra, director of ICAR Umiam.
Chaudhari inaugurated the KVK’s farmer’s training hostel and laid the foundation stone for the administrative building.
On this occasion, an input distribution programme under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) was also organised where more than 100 farmers of Tura and neighbouring villages attended.
The dignitaries also distributed inputs worth Rs 15 lakh to around 100 farmers who received knapsack sprayers, silpaulin sheets, sewing machines, drip irrigation kits, improved seed materials, poultry birds, medicines, feed, feeders, water pumps, etc.
