An alliance of pressure groups from the Selsella region has written to the Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary to complain about the supposed absence of the Veterinary Assistant posted to the village of Wajadatagre, Kalchengpara.
Although assigned by the state government to the village’s veterinary office, the said assistant has been missing in action for the past three years, the letter to the Director claimed, citing the village headman.
“This prolonged absence has caused immense hardship to the local people, especially livestock farmers who rely on veterinary services for the health and well-being of their animals,” the pressure groups said. “The unavailability of veterinary assistance has led to severe difficulties, including a lack of medical care for livestock, which in turn affects the livelihood of the people.”
They added a call for immediate disciplinary action against the official for “negligence and dereliction of duty” and the appointment of a new, responsible and dedicated Veterinary Assistant.
