Nine Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally entered India and three of their facilitators were arrested by West Garo Hills police from Dalamgre village.
The Bangladeshis were identified as Md Mostafa (39), Manir Hussain (38), Md Manik Mia (32), Nasir Ahmed (49), Md Shah Alom (28), Motaleb Sk (39), Sofiqul Islam Badshah (29), Bilal Hussain (36) and Joel Miah (42).
The Indian nationals are Sengbat R Marak (29), Prebiush M Sangma (18) and Samarendro Koch (42).
According to police, the individuals were intercepted on February 5 at around 8 pm while attempting to cross the Dalu border in two vehicles bearing registration numbers ML14A 0593 and ML09A 3830.
Police said the Bangladeshi nationals entered India illegally through Sylhet (Bangladesh) into Silchar, Assam and later contacted Sengbat through another individual, who facilitated their return to Bangladesh for Rs 7,000 per head.
From their possession, 12 mobile phones, Rs. 29,500 Aadhaar cards and other incriminating documents were seized.
