The Garo Students Union has called off its office picketing at the Tura campus of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), after receiving a promise from Vice-Chancellor Prof PS Shukla that he will visit the town on July 14.
The GSU has a raft of demands, including the appointment of a full-fledged pro-VC and other matters. The pressure group wants the pro-VC appointed by the end of the month.
Shukla held a video conference today with the GSU to discuss the issues.
