A five-day international multidisciplinary art workshop – ‘Cross Cultural Identities: A Dialogue Through Art’ – was inaugurated today by Commissioner and Secretary in the Arts and Culture Department, Frederick Roy Kharkongor.
The programme has been organised by Positive Energy Art Foundation in collaboration with ICSSR-NERC.
Speaking on the occasion, Kharkongor said that cultural exchanges will have a positive impact on the cultural and traditional aspects of the North East with connections made with artists from different countries and various parts of India through rich and meaningful dialogue.
The ICSSR-NERC director Prof B Panda said that, in the context of the North East, much of the under-development comes not from the economic sphere but from art, culture and literature.
Therefore, he said that art, culture, literature and social science need to play a very important role in providing social and cultural capital.
