A member of the public, SA Marak, has written to the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Swapnil Tembe, to complain over the rampant littering on the premises of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
Photos Marak attached show the ground littered with plastic water bottles, bottles of alcohol and other trash.
He asked the DC to get the Tura Municipal Board to clean up the mess at the GHADC as well as other garbage dumped on roadsides.
“As the beautification of Tura city is in progress, as a humble citizen of your town, I urge you to please install dustbins in important locations,” Marak said, adding that many picnic spots around Tura are similarly littered with rubbish.
