A delegation of the A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) met with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in Tura to complain about the appointments of Field Engineers by the Meghalaya State Watershed and Wasteland Development Agency, as only one out of the 16 vacancies was filled by a Garo.
In a press release today, the pressure group said that Sangma had assured that the “erring result declaration” will be fixed immediately and that the state’s job reservation policy will be upheld.
AHAM also submitted a memorandum on other issues, such as making Tura the winter capital of Meghalaya, the problem of dual voters living along the border with Assam and the “torture” being meted out to Garos around Hallidayganj by “illegal mining mafias” from Assam.
