Days after the inauguration of a nursing school in Mawiaban, West Khasi Hills, the local unit of the Federation of Khasi, Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP) said that this is only one of many healthcare infrastructure projects the district requires.
The FKJGP appreciated the state government for inaugurating the GNM Nursing School, which was opened by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on February 17, and took some credit for its realisation as the pressure group has pushed for the school since 2017.
At the same time, however, the FKJGP urged the government to inaugurate the blood bank, located on the same premises, to open the 50-bed maternity and child hospital at Upper New Nongstoiñ and upgrade the Nongkynjang health sub-centre to primary health centre.
