The Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP), Rambrai circle has urged the State government for creation of a new C&RD block centred at Rambrai area.
In this regard, the organisation has also submitted a memorandum to Community and Rural Development (C&RD) Minister Hamletson Dohling today.
Pointing out that the Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency is only assembly constituency with no C&RD block, the FKJGP said that the government should give special attention and prioritize the rural constituency.
The organisation said that the area comprising of around 335 villages and a population of 35, 321 as per the 2011 census has been neglected and deprived of better administrative services, health and education and also remains one of the most backward area in West Khasi Hills district.
“It is time to bring the people closer to a better administration and development. It is also time to raise their standards of living in all spheres of life,” circle president Jistarland Lyngkhoi said.
