The Garo State Movement Committee has claimed that there are several illegally operating teer counters in the Rongsai areas of Raksamgre civil sub-division, with most of these being run by people from Assam.
The chairman of the GSMC’s Pedaldoba unit, Rimjen Ch Sangma, said in a press release today that it has become a “daily phenomenon” to see people from Assam running teer counters in Rongsai, for which, he said, they have no licence.
Sangma urged the authorities to take action against any teer counters that do not have the right paperwork, as such operations cause losses to all those legal teer counters that contribute to the state exchequer through licence fees.
