The average number of daily infections of Covid-19 in Meghalaya reached 300 today, after another 318 new cases were recorded, along with 198 recoveries and one fatality.
The lone death was recorded in East Khasi Hills. There have now been 13 Covid-related deaths in the state this month, with five in the last four days.
East Khasi Hills recorded 201 new cases (including 87 through screening, 25 high-risk contacts, 25 returnees, 12 in the Jaiaw cluster, 10 in Mawlai Mawtawar, three armed forces personnel and two health workers), West Garo Hills 70, Ri-Bhoi 24, South West Garo Hills eight, West Jaintia Hills six, Eastern West Khasi Hills three, South West Khasi Hills two, West Khasi Hills two, East Jaintia Hills one and South Garo Hills one.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 140 recoveries, West Garo Hills 28, West Jaintia Hills eight, East Jaintia Hills six, Ri-Bhoi six, West Khasi Hills four, South West Garo Hills three, South West Khasi Hills two and East Garo Hills one.
There are now 2,121 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,437 active cases, West Garo Hills 319, Ri-Bhoi 143, West Jaintia Hills 61, East Jaintia Hills 34, West Khasi Hills 28, Eastern West Khasi Hills 21, South West Garo Hills 20, South Garo Hills 18, South West Khasi Hills 16, East Garo Hills 12 and North Garo Hills 12.
In all, Meghalaya has had 88,459 Covid-19 cases, of which 2,121 are active, 84,841 have recovered and 1,497 have died from the virus. The seven-day average of new infections has risen to 300.14.
