Thirty-three students were today presented with the Nongkrem Constituency Academic Excellence Award, 2021 at a function held at the community hall of the Laitkor Dorbar Pyllun.
Local MLA and Chairman Meghalaya State Planning Board, Lambor Malngiang gave away the awards to 26 meritorious students who cleared the SSLC and seven from the HSSLC examinations.
Speaking on the occasion, Malngiang congratulated the students for their tremendous efforts in clearing their respective board examinations and bringing laurels to their families, society and the state as a whole. He further encouraged them to pursue their career with determination and to strive for future goals.
Students being the pillars and future of the society should be encouraged to develop a sense of competition among themselves in order to enable them to increase their capabilities as well as to make them better citizens which can bring about positive contribution towards the society, he stated.
Malngiang thanked the parents and the teachers for their contribution and support in nurturing the students to enable them to achieve their desired goals.
He also handed over mementos and cash prizes of Rs 5000 each to the awardees.
Others who were present include P T Passah, BDO Mylliem C&RD Block, R Wahlang, BDO, Mawryngkneng C&RD Block, Headmen and Sordars of villages under Nongkrem Constituency among others.
