As part of the preparations for the coming of Christmas next week, the Nongpoh Christmas Committee inaugurated a Christmas nativity scene, colourful decorations and lights at a function yesterday evening.
The Christmas crib and decorations were inaugurated by Rev Fr Devasa Vanzhayil and Rev BB Khymdeit, representatives from the Catholic and Presbyterian churches respectively.
Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem, Umsning MDC Macdalyne Mawlong, Superintendent of Police C Syrti and others were also present on the occasion.
Members of the 6th Battalion of Meghalaya Police were also on hand to sing songs, along with choir groups from the Presbyterian and Catholic churches.
