To celebrate of World Heritage Week, the Department of Tourism and Travel Management, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) today organised an inaugural program under the theme “Complex Past, Diverse Future”.
The programme is also organised as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Meghalaya’s Statehood wherein students gave presentations on importance of preserving cultural heritage in a sustainable manner.
The day which is celebrated every year from the November 19 to November 25 is aimed to create awareness on the importance of our historical ethnicity and to uplift and preserve cultural heritage and monuments.
Storytelling, songs, cultural dances, showcasing of traditional attires and flash mob was held in the university campus.
The department will also undertake a heritage walk on November 24 to Nartiang Monolith Clusters and Larnai villages (village of traditional art of pottery making) to enlighten students on the responsibilities and participation in preserving and conserving these heritage sites and traditional art.
