A mega camp cum free medical camp was today organised by the East Jaiñtia Hills Legal Services Authority in Iapmala village as part of the Pan India Legal Awareness and Outreach Programme Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav.
Medical facilities such as medical check up, Covid-19 vaccination, MHIS registration, immunization/ OBG-GY for women and Children and Counselling (Adolescent/ICTC/Mental Health) etc were provided to the villages wherein 553 of them benefitted. A total of 77 residents were also vaccinated against Covid-19 at the camp.
Stalls were also set up for exhibition of schemes and services provided by various departments of the District which includes the District Legal Services Authority, Khliehriat, Election Department, Education Department, National Informatics Centre(NIC), Water Resource Department, Office of the District Social Welfare Officer, East Jaiñtia Hills District, Office of the District Agriculture Officer, Office of the District Horticulture Officer, Office of the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer, Office of the Superintendent of Fisheries among others.
East Jaiñtia Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ethelbert Kharmalki who attended the camp as the chief guest emphasised on consistency in execution of government welfare schemes by the various departments of the district for the benefit of the public.
District and Session Judge Cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority, East Jaiñtia Hills District, C. Dkhar informed about the services provided by the legal service authority under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA).
At the programme, work orders were also handed over to the functionaries of Iapmala VEC, Suchen Rim VEC and Suchen Dhana VEC for the implementation of projects under MGNREGA Scheme. Work orders were also handed over to 19 PMAY-G beneficiaries of Iapmala and Lumshken villages as well as relief funds to victims of natural calamities in the district.
Meanwhile, a similar camp was also organised by the North Garo Hills District Legal Service Authority in Mendipathar College.
A sizeable number of students, teachers, nokmas, sordars and members of Self Help Group benefitted from the medical services which was provided free of cost.
The programme was attended by RP Marak Deputy Commissioner, ZJ Sangma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Albert W Lanong, MHJS, Chief Judicial Magistrate, NGH, BDOs of the district and other officials of different line departments.
An exhibition was also organized by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority regarding the justice delivery system, its administration, achievements and legal aid system for the last 75 years.
It was held yesterday at the High Court of Meghalaya here.
Justice W Diengdoh, who is also the chair of the High Court legal services committee, was the chief guest and inaugurated the exhibition.
The participants during the exhibition were Additional Advocate General ND Shullai, High Court Registrar AM Ripnar and others.
