The office of the district agriculture officer Ri Bhoi District released thirteen power tillers to the SHGs under Umsning C&RD Block at a function held at Thad village under Ri Bhoi District.
The power tillers were sanctioned under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan which is one of the central sponsored schemes aimed at uplifting the farmers.
The power tillers and other farm materials which was distributed to the SHGs is a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav activities to commemorate the 75 year of India independence and Ri Bho District being one of the selected Aspirational District in the country.
MDC of Mawhati, Charles Marngar who graced the occasion as chief guest lauded the initiative taken by the agriculture department of Ri Bhoi in helping the farmer of his constituency in the form of SHGs and hoped that through these machines farmers benefit and in turn would boost their economy.
He also exhorted the farmers to properly utilize the power tillers and other farm materials for the agriculture purpose only.
Director of Horticulture and R. Majaw, D.Lyngdoh, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Ri Bhoi District, D. Lamar, District Horticulture officer, Ri Bhoi, Raja Brahma, Block Development Officer, Umsning C&RD Block, headmen of different villages and farmers were present on the occasion.
