The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested a drug carrier and a receiver from Mawïongrim and seized 100 soap cases with heroin in them.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said that the drug carrier identified as T. Ginlienthang was proceeding from Manipur to Shillong on October 29 with the drugs to be delivered to one suspected drug dealer.
Based on credible source information the district ANTF along with police from Mawlai setup a naka at Mawiong Rim where the suspected carrier was intercepted. One Lamminthang Paongam was also detained while he was coming to collect the consignment, the SP said.
“It is ascertained that the illegal consignment was trafficked from Myanmar for sale in Shillong,” the SP said, adding, a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 is being registered in Mawlai.
