Blood donors in Ri Bhoi were today felicitated by the Ai Jingim Voluntary Blood Donors Organization at a function held at Sajer Community, Nongpoh with an aim to encourage more people to donate blood in order to save live in times of emergency.
The programme was organised as part of 15 years of journey of the organization, which was formed with an aim to serve people in the State by donating blood.
Deputy Commissioner, R.M Kurbah who graced the occasion as the chief guest lauded the efforts put in by the organization to save many precious lives which have also inspired many youth to be part of the benevolent act.
She also urged the general public to come forward in donating their blood at the Blood Bank in Civil Hospital Nongpoh to cater to help people in need.
Dr. W. Nongpyiur, Incharge of Blood Bank, Nongpoh, Adviser of Ai Jingim VBDO, M. Shylla, Secretary of VBDO, Andreas H. Marwein, local headman of Nongpoh, S. Mynsong and blood donors from across the district attended the felicitation programme.
A blood donation camp was also organised during the day and cutting of the cake as a mark of respect to the blood donors.
