NPP national president Conrad Sangma today denied that he made any statement stating that there was a political angle to the planting of the improvised explosive device (IED) in the party’s office at Lachaumiere here on October 4.
“Let me make that very clear. I never made that statement,” Sangma told media persons.
The chief minister said that he had responded to a question asked by somebody in the media.
“I was asked if there is a possible political link to this incident and my reply was there could be. We cannot simply write that off,” Sangma said.
Sangma while lauding the efforts of the police in solving the case said that the cops were doing “a good work”.
Meanwhile, the chief minister also informed that police have so far arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in planting of the IED outside the office of the NPP.
It may be mentioned that initially one person was arrested for his involvement in the crime. He later led the police to the other four accused.
“Possibly more arrests will be made and investigations are on,” the Sangma said.
