There were 263 new Covid-19 cases recorded in Meghalaya today, along with 350 recoveries and two fatalities. West Khasi Hills (75) and South West Khasi Hills (47) together accounted for 122 of the new infections.
West Khasi Hills has seen over 500 new cases since the second half of August, while South West Khasi Hills has added around 200 in the same period.
One death was in East Khasi Hills and the other in West Khasi Hills. Both were of unvaccinated people, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 84 new cases today, West Khasi Hills 75, South West Khasi Hills 47, Ri-Bhoi 22, West Jaiñtia Hills 17 and 18 between the other six districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 235 recoveries, Ri-Bhoi 51, West Khasi Hills 28, West Jaiñtia Hills 11, West Garo Hills 10 and 15 between the other six districts.
There are now 2,206 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,101 active cases, West Khasi Hills 355, Ri-Bhoi 220, West Jaiñtia Hills 195, South West Khasi Hills 167, West Garo Hills 75, East Jaiñtia Hills 49, East Garo Hills 20, South West Garo Hills 13, North Garo Hills seven and South Garo Hills 4.
In all, Meghalaya has had 76,767 Covid-19 cases, of which 2,206 are active, 73,236 have recovered and 1,325 have died from the virus. The recovery rate rose to 95.40 percent. The fatality rate stayed level at 1.73 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases increased marginally to 204.43 and fell for new deaths to 3.71.
