In a major fire incident, seven shops were reduced to cinders when a fire broke out last night at around 10 pm in Bhoirymbong market, Ri-Bhoi.
The shops were of a wide assortment, from a furniture outlet to tea stall, betel nut shop and groceries. The structure is owned by one Poris Biam of Lumdaitkhla.
Biam informed that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. Despite the efforts of locals, who rushed to help after the fire took hold, there was nothing to be done.
