Following the case of assault case at Umlaper village in which three youths were allegedly assaulted by Assam police, Mawhati MDC Charles Marngar and traditional leaders have requested the public to remain calm and not cause any law and order problems.
The situation arising from the assault was settled through the intervention of the Ri-Bhoi district administration and that of its counterpart in West Karbi Anglong.
Speaking to the media today, Marngar and the president of the Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Border Area under Raid Nongtung, Blikshon Sohtun, thanked the Ri-Bhoi authorities for swiftly sorting out matters.
They also asked the residents of the area to maintain peace and harmony in the disputed border area.
