Five more Covid-related fatalities were recorded in Meghalaya today, taking the total death toll due to the disease to exactly 1,200. There were also 429 new infections and 381 recoveries.
Today’s number of fatalities was the lowest in Meghalaya since July 24. The Covid-19 death toll since the start of the second wave in April this year has now reached 1,050.
Four deaths were in East Khasi Hills and one in Ri-Bhoi. Four of the five were unvaccinated, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 153 new cases today, West Khasi Hills 80, Ri-Bhoi 71, West Garo Hills 46, South West Khasi Hills 43, West Jaiñtia Hills 11, South Garo Hills 10 and 15 between the other four districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 227 recoveries, Ri-Bhoi 46, West Jaiñtia Hills 34, South West Khasi Hills 23, West Garo Hills 18, West Khasi Hills 17 and 16 between the other five districts.
There are now 4,539 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,903 active cases, West Khasi Hills 689, West Garo Hills 551, Ri-Bhoi 461, West Jaiñtia Hills 418, South West Khasi Hills 239, East Jaiñtia Hills 65, North Garo Hills 57, South Garo Hills 55, East Garo Hills 54 and South West Garo Hills 47.
In all, Meghalaya has had 70,661 Covid-19 cases, of which 4,539 are active, 64,922 have recovered and 1,200 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has dipped to 91.88 percent. The fatality rate stayed level at 1.70 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases dropped to 438.43 and decreased for new deaths to 9.57.
