Active Covid-19 cases rose above 6,000 in Meghalaya, for the first time since June 4, though the curve of the disease appears to be plateauing.
The seven-day rolling average for new cases has now been relatively flat for the past three days and is currently 627.86.
Statewide there were 589 new infections, 501 recoveries and 11 fatalities.
Eight deaths were in East Khasi Hills, one in Ri-Bhoi, one in West Garo Hills and one in West Khasi Hills.
East Khasi Hills recorded 233 new cases today, West Khasi Hills 89, West Garo Hills 76, West Jaintia Hills 57, South West Khasi Hills 52, Ri-Bhoi 49, East Garo Hills 18, East Jaintia Hills seven, South West Garo Hills five, South Garo Hills two and North Garo Hills one.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 162 recoveries, West Jaintia Hills 86, West Garo Hills 56, Ri-Bhoi 45, South West Khasi Hills 32, West Khasi Hills 29, East Jaintia Hills 28, North Garo Hills 26, South Garo Hills 17, East Garo Hills 12 and South West Garo Hills eight.
There are now 6,043 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 2,309 active cases, West Garo Hills 872, West Khasi Hills 701, Ri-Bhoi 677, West Jaintia Hills 664, South West Khasi Hills 324, East Jaintia Hills 169, East Garo Hills 97, North Garo Hills 94, South Garo Hills 73 and South West Garo Hills 63.
In all, Meghalaya has had 65,589 Covid-19 cases, of which 6,043 are active, 58,450 have recovered and 1,096 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has dropped to 89.12 percent. The fatality rate stayed level at 1.67 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases dipped to 628.86 and rose for new deaths to 10.43.
