Meghalaya police today requested members of the public who have received ransom demands over the phone to intimate this to the authorities.
In a press release, Assistant Inspector General of Police, GK Iangrai, said that it has come to the notice of the force that “many people” have received phone calls from unknown numbers or WhatsApp messages demanding ransoms.
Those members of the public who have been so affected can contact their local police station, beat house or outpost or contact the police through their social media handles.
