Meghalaya suffered 13 Covid-related fatalities today, making it the worst day since June 12. There were also 500 new cases of the disease and 476 recoveries.
Two consecutive days of higher than average deaths have taken the seven-day rolling average of fatalities to 7.14, the highest this marker has been since July 10. Increased numbers of new infections have also taken the seven-day rolling average of new cases to 436.71 (also highest since July 10).
Seven fatalities were recorded in East Khasi Hills, two each in West Jaiñtia Hills and West Khasi Hills and one each in West Garo Hills and North Garo Hills.
East Khasi Hills recorded 148 new cases today, West Garo Hills 108, South West Khasi Hills 58, West Jaiñtia Hills 42, Ri-Bhoi 36, West Khasi Hills 24, North Garo Hills 21, South West Garo Hills 24, East Garo Hills 16, South Garo Hills 15 and East Jaiñtia Hills eight.
East Khasi Hills reported 140 recoveries, West Garo Hills 86, West Jaiñtia Hills 97, North Garo Hills 31, West Khasi Hills 31, Ri-Bhoi 30, East Garo Hills 23, South West Khasi Hills 17, South Garo Hills nine, East Jaiñtia Hills six and South West Garo Hills six.
There are now 4,044 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,195 active cases, West Garo Hills 935, Ri-Bhoi 591, West Jaiñtia Hills 419, South West Khasi Hills 215, North Garo Hills 154, West Khasi Hills 150, East Garo Hills 124, South West Garo Hills 104, South Garo Hills 91 and East Jaiñtia Hills 66.
In all, Meghalaya has had 58,275 Covid-19 cases, of which 4,044 are active, 53,263 have recovered and 968 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has risen to 91.40 percent. The fatality rate increased to 1.66 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases jumped to 436.71 and has increased for new deaths to 7.14.
