The Deputy Commissioner of North Garo Hills has declared a local holiday on July 16 on account of Garo Labour Corps Day.
In this regard, all state government offices, magisterial courts, revenue and educational institutions in the district shall remain closed on the said day.
The holiday is celebrated to mark the safe return of the members of the corps to their homeland and in memory of those who died in service during the First World War.
