The seven-day rolling average of new Covid-19 cases in East Khasi Hills today hit its lowest point since May 1. There were 97 new infections reported in the district today, bringing the rolling average to 130.14, the lowest it has been since lockdown was reimposed in East Khasi Hills on May 1.
However, the other 10 districts of Meghalaya recorded 328 new cases, to take the rolling average to 306.43, its second-highest point in July.
Overall, there were 425 new Covid cases, 421 recoveries and two fatalities in the state today.
West Garo Hills reported 121 new infections, East Khasi Hills 97, Ri-Bhoi 71, West Jaintia Hills 50, East Garo Hills 23, West Khasi Hills 15, South West Khasi Hills 12, North Garo Hills 11, East Jaintia Hills 10, South West Garo Hills eight and South Garo Hills seven.
East Khasi Hills recorded 159 recoveries, Ri-Bhoi 88, West Garo Hills 40, West Jaintia Hills 37, West Khasi Hills 26, South Garo Hills 22, East Garo Hills 19, North Garo Hills 14, South West Khasi Hills seven, East Jaintia Hills six and South West Garo Hills three.
One fatality each was recorded in East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills.
There are now 4,365 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,334 active cases, Ri-Bhoi 887, West Garo Hills 640, West Jaintia Hills 527, West Khasi Hills 265, North Garo Hills 189, East Jaintia Hills 124, East Garo Hills 122, South West Khasi Hills 111, South Garo Hills 97 and South West Garo Hills 69.
In all, Meghalaya has had 54,580 Covid-19 cases, of which 4,365 are active, 49,307 have recovered and 908 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has increased to 90.34 percent. The fatality rate dropped to 1.66 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases has declined to 436.57 and has dipped for new deaths to 6.57.
