The Achik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) has written to the union minister of law and justice, Kiren Rijiju asking for a re-autopsy to be conducted on the body of the 23 year old Samuel Sangma from Nagaland whose death was apparently ruled as a suicide by Delhi police.
AHAM rejected the post mortem report of the Delhi police calling the same as false after it ruled the death as a suicide and asked for a CBI inquiry into the death of Samuel Sangma.
Samuel and his aunt, Rose Sangma lost their lives about two weeks ago near the National Capital Region (NCR) with Rose allegedly dying from illness while Samuel was found hanging in an apparent case of suicide.
However when the body of Samuel was brought to Nagaland, where they lived, it bore signs of physical trauma including broken teeth and neck injuries. The discovery has led to furore in the NE region with many seeking justice for the aunt-nephew from the Garo community.
“The untimely death of Samuel Sangma is highly suspicious in nature. One does not need to be a medical doctor or forensic expert and just one glance into the victim’s body speaks volumes. There were injury marks all over the body, with broken teeth and swollen lips. The viral video where he was repeatedly assaulted just before his death has raised many questions,” said the AHAM letter to Rijiju.
AHAM alleged discrimination in the matter as the victims were both from the NE and were STs.
“Those from the mainland look at us as lower class hence this case is not being taken up in a proper way and the genuine investigation has not been done so far,” they alleged.
“We are dissatisfied with the post mortem report and false finding and demand that CBI inquiry be set up and re-autopsy be done to prove the unsolved mystery. We will not rest until justice is given to us,” announced AHAM.
