The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA) continued their tirade against the Block Mission Coordinator (BMC) of Songsak over the issue of MTET for SSA teachers questioning her credentials to issue even as the state postponed the MTET circular.
Earlier the BMC, Clarinda Marak, had cleared the air over the matter stating that the exam circular was not meant for SSA teachers.
The MTET exam was postponed by the state education department on June 8 following which a message was sent by the BMC on June 18 asking teachers appointed after August-September 2010 to register for the exam or they could face termination.
“Who is she to issue this even after the MTET examination was called off by the State Government? If there was an official re-notification order, why did she fail to prove it? How is she confident enough to make clarification that she has circulated the information but not meant for the SSA Teachers when we confirmed the same from even the district mission coordinator (DMC) of East Garo Hills,” they asked.
The AGHSSASTA pointed fingers at the BMC for misusing her powers.
“If she clarified that there was no mention of SSA teachers then why did she mention all teachers in her WhatsApp message? She should have explained the situation on SSA in her notification,” they added.
They further tore into the BMC over the use of the word termination which they said has irritated the sentiments of teachers.
“It is nowhere in the NCTE guidelines mentioned about the termination of teachers. No words of termination have been mentioned even in RTE norms or in the official MTET advertisement notified by the state Government. Being an education official how did she fail to know all these rules and norms of education? She has definitely violated the NCTE Guidelines while using the word termination in her so-called information,” asserted the teachers.
They called the clarification by the BMC as an attempt to cover up her mistake while alleging that this was not the first time. They added that there were many earlier complaints made on malpractices from some teachers against her and they were ready to prove it.
“We will no longer be patient with her malpractices and await to see action taken by the higher authorities of the education department over the complaints of her malpractices,” they threatened.
Further AGHSSASTA stated that they were not against the conduct of MTET for fresh candidates but MTET cannot be mandatory for the in-service SSA Teachers who have already been appointed.
“It is purely an entrance exam for fresh candidates. It should be conducted before appointment of elementary teachers, not for those teachers already appointed,” they stated.
