Senior most accredited journalist and Editor of Ka Pyrthei Mynta, L.M Morrow Kharpuri breathed his last yesterday in his residence at Nongrim Hills.
Born on January 1, 1939, Bah Morrow, as he was popularly known, was devoted to his newspaper as he continued with it through thick and thin. Besides looking after his newspaper, he wrote articles for other publications as well. Over the years he also set up a tiny printing press in his home premises for printing his newspaper as well as doing other job-works.
Despite his age, he continued to read and write for his editions till recently, when his fading eyesight got the better of him and he had decided to hire editorial help. Imagine a man still planning for his newspaper at the age of 82. That is dedication. But then ill health overcame his body and he could not implement his wish.
His family said that the paper could not be printed since the lockdown started.
His youngest daughter, Margaret Nongrum remembered her father as a rare type of man, full of love and compassion, and said he had brought her up along with her other siblings as a single father after their mother died in 1992. He is survived by four daughters and three sons with a host of grandchildren. He is also known as a social worker.
He will be buried in the Catholic cemetery in Nongshilliang under the Nongthymmai Parish on June 27.
