Another 269 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Meghalaya today, along with 655 recoveries and five fatalities.
The number of new cases was the lowest since May 5. East Khasi Hills recorded only 120 new infections, the lowest single-day increase since April 28. The seven-day rolling average for the district stands at 157, which is the lowest since May 3. The other 10 districts of Meghalaya also saw a decline in new cases, adding a combined 149 today, the lowest since May 31, although the rolling average remains above 300.
Ri-Bhoi reported 57 new cases, West Jaintia Hills 42, West Garo Hills 13, East Garo Hills 12, North Garo Hills 10, West Khasi Hills six, East Jaintia Hills five, South West Khasi Hills two and South West Garo Hills two.
The 655 recoveries (highest since June 8) were split between East Khasi Hills (238), West Garo Hills (97), West Jaintia Hills (83), South West Khasi Hills (77), Ri-Bhoi (46), West Khasi Hills (28), North Garo Hills (21), South West Garo Hills (20), East Garo Hills (20), East Jaintia Hills (19) and South Garo Hills (six).
Three fatalities were added to East Khasi Hills’ figures and one each in West Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi. The state has now gone seven consecutive days with Covid-related fatalities of less than 10 per day.
There are now 4,196 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,383 active cases, West Garo Hills 644, West Jaintia Hills 540, Ri-Bhoi 502, East Garo Hills 223, North Garo Hills 210, South West Khasi Hills 209, South West Garo Hills 180, South Garo Hills 137, West Khasi Hills 107 and East Jaintia Hills 61.
In all, Meghalaya has had 45,555 Covid-19 cases, of which 4,196 are active, 40,574 have recovered and 785 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has increased to 89.07 percent. The fatality rate has remained steady at 1.72 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases has decreased to 463.71 and has dropped for new deaths to 6.00.
