From accounting for 70 percent of all new Covid-19 cases at the end of April, East Khasi Hills is now only responsible for 40 percent of new infections, with the other 10 districts now making up the remaining 60 percent.
While the second wave of the pandemic appears to be on a continuous downwards trajectory in East Khasi Hills, which, however, continues to remain the worst-affected district, the figures in the other 10 have levelled off in the last few days.
The seven-day average of new infections in EKH now stands at 193.57, while in the Rest of Meghalaya this is now 287.43. As recently as June 1, EKH had an average of 351 new Covid cases, while RoM had 308.43. Since then the tables have turned as the second wave continues to sweep over the other 10 districts.
