A total of 443 people have contracted Covid-19 within the Mylliem Assembly constituency during the second wave of the pandemic, local MLA Hamletson Dohling informed today.
Of this number 206 are active cases, 225 have recovered and 12 have died.
Dohling, a cabinet minister, held a review meeting today with the local Block Development Officer, Peter Passah, in the presence of two doctors working in the areas.
The medical staff told Dohling that one of the constituency’s drawbacks is that there is only one ambulance at Pomlum Public Health Centre available to serve the public in distress. They also informed that there is a lack of medical supplies and other facilities. Dohling said that these matters will be raised with the Health Department, while an ambulance belonging to the Mylliem Youth Welfare Organisation will be roped in for Covid duty.
It was also decided at the meeting that a control centre will be set up at the BDO’s office with a helpline for the public to make use of.
