Frontline workers and Covid warriors of East Khasi Hills district were felicitated at the sharing of experiences workshop organised by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) held in Shillong Club.
Revenue and Disaster Management Commissioner and Secretary, R. Lyngdoh congratulated DDMAs of all the eleven districts in the State for the role they have played in the fight against the Covid pandemic.
She also lauded the service rendered by frontline workers who have been working round the clock and leave their personal lives, families and even their own safety for containing the spread of Covid-19 and helping the needy will be remembered for generations to come.
Lyngdoh also reminded government employees of their duties to comfort, provide and deliver for the safety of the people of the state. She also expressed confidence that with experiences gained through fighting Covid last year, the state would be able to handle the second wave systematically.
As part of the programme, officer in charge of various cells shared their experiences during the ongoing fight against Covid-19.
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson DDMA, Isawanda Laloo, Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger, senior officers and in charge of different Covid cells of the District.
Besides distribution of appreciation certificates to officers and staff of the district performing their Covid duties, a documentary video that highlights Covid-19 management in East Khasi Hills District was screened and Coffee Table Book, “Taming the Panic” was released.
