Meghalaya registered 42 new cases of Covid-19 today, the highest figure in months.
Thirty-four of the new infections were reported in East Khasi Hills, with 12 returnees, 10 in the Mawlai Nongkwar, six high-risk contacts, three in Laban and three others all testing positive.
There were also three cases in West Garo Hills (all returnees), two in Ri-Bhoi (including one returnee), two in West Jaiñtia Hills and one in East Jaiñtia Hills.
There were also six recoveries, all in East Khasi Hills.
There are now 167 active Covid-19 cases in the state, an increase of over 27 percent on the previous day. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 118 active cases.
In all, Meghalaya has had 14,207 Covid-19 cases, of which 167 are active, 13,889 have recovered and 151 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has fallen to 97.76 percent. The fatality rate is 1.06 percent. Over 1.41 lakh doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Meghalaya as of today.
