Continuing their endeavour for closer cooperation between the border population and the BSF, another Civic Action Programme (CAP) was held by the frontier men in the district of South Garo Hills.
“BSF has been continuously conducting various CAPs to serve the border residing population and to create a sense of security among them,” said a release by the BSF.
The event was held in the border outpost of Sibbari, about 30 kms from the district headquarter of Baghmara on Mar 19 and was organized by the 55 BN of the BSF, Sector Tura.
The program was inaugurated by S.K Sharma (DIG BSF Sector Tura) at 11 AM who was accompanied by Sharita Sharma (BWWA President of SHQ Tura), K.N.Tripathi (Commandant of 55 BN) along with Madhavi Tripathi (BWWA President 55 BN BSF).
The SP of SGH, Rithuraj Ravi, SHO Gasuapara, Nokmas of Gasuapara, Silbari, Gobrakura and over 200 hundred people from nearby villages also took part in the programme.
The day saw a variety of cultural shows being presented by different school students and youth of nearby villages.
At the end of the event, the DIG (Sector Tura) distributed 17 bicycles to local students and the border population.
“The local population also expressed their happiness and gratitude on the friendly gesture of BSF,” added the release.
