On the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day, the East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner organized a one-day awareness programme on the theme ‘Alert and Responsible Consumers’ at Bansamgre today.
Advocate Jan N Arengh deliberated at length on the Consumer Protection Act 2019 and the Central Consumer Protection Authority and urged the people to be aware of their consumer rights.
Raksang K Marak, Inspector, Legal Metrology, dwelling on the theme, stressed on the need to understand the importance of weights and measures, weighing and measuring tools and machines, etc. Tangme Ch Marak, Food Safety Officer, while speaking about Food Safety and Adulteration, also highlighted the ill-effects of packaged drinking water.
