Fissures in the State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now pronounced as its MLA, Sanbor Shullai wants his president, Ernest Mawrie out.
“He (Mawrie) is a mere president selected by manipulation and the state BJP is day by day sinking under his leadership,” Shullai told reporters here today.
Shullai said he had verbally complained to his national Vice President, M Chuba Ao. “Ao has been informed about all the activities of Mawrie and he has hinted us to give a complaint in writing and not verbally so that he can take up the matter with the central leadership of the party,” he stated.
Stating that the BJP president should be removed for the party to grow, Shullai said a joint statement of the members will soon been sent to the party supremo.
Yesterday, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had said that both Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek and Shullai have both lost confidence in the state party President.
Shullai said that the statement made by the Chief Minister was “true and factual.”
“Conrad Sangma as the Chief Minister is the head of the State and father of the MDA government. He has every right to give statements and suggestions because from day one the BJP central leadership has also directed both me and Hek to support that MDA government,” Shullai.
The South Shillong MLA also agreed that there are a series of complaints against Mawrie and stated that many party leaders from Jaintia Hills, Ri-Bhoi, West Khasi Hills, Shillong, etc left the party as they were not happy with the style of functioning of Mawrie.
