Forty new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Meghalaya today, one of the highest daily increases in weeks. There were also five recoveries and no new fatalities.
Twenty-six of the new infections were reported in East Khasi Hills, 11 in West Jaintia Hills and three in Ri-Bhoi.
Nongthymmai and Nongmynsong each reported three new cases in East Khasi Hills. Fifteen cases were also detected through screening. The Mukhap cluster in West Jaintia Hills saw seven new infections.
Four of the recoveries were in East Khasi Hills while there was also one in Ri-Bhoi.
In all, Meghalaya has had 13,885 Covid-19 cases, of which 137 are active, 13,601 have recovered and 147 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has dropped to 97.96 percent. The fatality rate is 1.06 percent. There were also around 1,100 Covid tests carried out in the last 24 hours.
