Governor Satya Pal Malik held a review meeting with officers of the state government today to review the performance of central government schemes and programmes in East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
Held at Raj Bhavan, the Governor met with senior civil servants to discuss the progress of programmes such as the national rural employment guarantee scheme (MGNREGS), National Health Mission, affordable housing scheme (PMAY), financial inclusion programme (Jan Dhan Yojana), etc.
The later part of the meeting focused on law and order issues in which the Superintendents of Police made presentations on issues of security, law and order, issues of human trafficking, drug abuse and smuggling and steps taken by the state police to counter the challenges.
The Governor expressed his satisfaction on the performance of the schemes and assured that some issues including that of poor bank coverage and mobile connectivity would be addressed by taking up the issues at his level too. He also said that maternal health and child schemes are very close to his heart and appealed to the district officials to specially focus on them.
