Food at the five corona care centres run by the State government in East Khasi Hills district has been priced at Rs 380 per day from today.
According to a notification issued by the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner on Friday, persons who are tested positive of Covid-19 and are admitted to the corona care centres will have to pay for food at the price approved by the Covid Response Task Force.
However, payment has been exempted for persons belonging to the BPL category. “Such persons will have to furnish yellow (AYY) or pink (PHH) NFSA ration card at the time of admission to the centre or it can also be brought to the centre by a family member within five days of their stay or intimated to the centre manager for collection from the person’s home,” the notification said.
For persons who do not possess ration card and claiming to be BPL, verification and certification can be given by the BDO/ Magistrate concerned upon proper enquiry, it said.
A person admitted into the centres has the option of getting food delivered from home by a family member for the duration of their stay but the option must be indicated at the time of admission.
The centre manager of each centre will devise an arrangement for persons opting for home food delivery, such as putting up a delivery counter outside the premises, notifying the timings for delivery of each meal, and putting in place a slip-system for ensuring proper and timely delivery to the persons concerned by the housekeeping staff.
Each centre will have designated staff to coordinate between the persons admitted, family members and the catering partner in case of any issues regarding the arrangement.
On the payment mode, the notification states the person admitted and their emergency contact/family member will be communicated the bill and the payment link through SMS/ Whatsapp.
Payment can be made any time before the discharge or upon discharge either by online mode by the admitted person or by online mode/cash by the emergency contact/family member.
Further, payment can also be made online through UPI (Google Pay, PayTM, etc.) as well as cash payment at the dedicated cash counter for centres at the Polo Ground.
The COVID ID of the admitted person needs to be mandatorily mentioned while making the payment. The transaction ID of the payment must be shared over Whatsapp/email as payment proof before discharge.
The centre manager of each centre will appoint a nodal staff to keep a precise record of number of days stayed and meals consumed for billing purposes, and to facilitate the process of payment.
Other consumables like toiletries will also be charged at the corona care centres. However, admitted persons can also arrange to bring their own toiletries/ essentials at the time of admission or which could be dropped by a family member. The charges of the toiletries will be notified and put up at each centres.
