In another motivating victory over Covid-19, an 80-year-old woman with co-morbidities successfully overcame the coronavirus and was discharged today from Bethany Hospital today.
The patient had been admitted on October 5 with complaints of fever, coughing, breathing difficulties and other symptoms, Bethany Hospital spokesperson Dr Kyntiewlang Sanmiet said in a press release. She also had low blood oxygen levels and tested positive for Covid-19 with scans indicating Covid pneumonia.
The woman, who has co-morbidities such as diabetes and hypertension, was placed on high flow oxygen support for the first seven days as well as other treatments and her condition improved before testing negative on the tenth day.
“It’s been fantastic to see our patients recover. It’s nice to see our patients leave our ward after having beaten this virus. This recovery story offers a powerful reminder to all of us that people of all ages even with co-morbidities can survive coronavirus if detected and treated at early stage. Therefore, timely diagnosis and treatment are key to providing a better outcome for patients with Covid-19,” Dr Sanmiet said.
