The POCSO Court of West Khasi Hills has given jail sentence to three persons who raped minor children in three separate cases.
In a verdict passed on September 9, the court convicted Promtis Dkhar from Maweit under Section 377 of IPC and Section 4 of POCSO Act.
Dkhar has been sentenced to ten years of rigorous imprisonment. He was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 failing which he shall further undergo another two months of simple imprisonment.
On September 25, the court convicted Phailang L. Marshilong under Sections 4 and 6 of POCSO Act.
He was sentenced to ten years of rigorous imprisonment failing which he has to undergo further one month of rigorous imprisonment.
On the same day, the POCSO Court convicted Buwelstar L. Marshilong from Lawse village under Section 4 of POCSO Act.
He was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. He was also ordered to pay fine of Rs 5000 and in default shall undergo further 15 days of simple imprisonment.
The POCSO Court also ordered for payment of compensation to the three young rape victims.
According to the order, Rs 3 lakh should be paid to one victim and Rs 2 lakh to each of the two victims.
