Shillong, Aug 12: The All Selsella NGOs’ Alliance has urged the Principal of District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), Tura, to review the block-wise selection of candidates for D.EI.Ed admission 2026-28, citing unequal representation.
In a representation submitted to DIET Tura, the organisation said only two candidates from Selsella C&RD Block featured in the final merit list, while other C&RD Blocks were allotted more seats. It termed the distribution unfair to deserving and eligible students of Selsella.
The organisation stated that Selsella has a large number of qualified students willing to pursue the two-year D.EI.Ed course. It demanded that if admissions are conducted block-wise, selection should be equal and fair across all blocks so that students from Selsella are not disadvantaged.
The group requested DIET to review the selection, ensure equal representation from every C&RD Block, consider more deserving candidates from Selsella based on merit, and clarify the criteria used for allotting seats to each block.
Reiterating respect for the admission process, the organisation appealed for immediate intervention to ensure equal opportunity and prevent students of Selsella from being deprived of their rightful chance.
